  1. Gray slacks and a nice blazer always looks good. Wear a lightly-patterned white shirt and a colorful pocket square and you’re in business. A suit would be a bit much, unless you’re going somewhere very fancy, as would a necktie.

    If you want to make it feel a little more festive and unique, try putting a boutonniere flower in your jacket lapel. You can pair it with a matching corsage if she’s wearing an evening dress, though that’s getting into a little more of a dressy look than most restaurant dates need.

    Or if there’s a piece of clothing in your wardrobe with some sentimental association — a jacket you lent her in a storm once, or something — work that in. Always a romantic touch.
