Can Your Undershirt Show beneath an Open Collar?
I see guys wearing collared shirts with no neckties and often I can see a triangle of their undershirt. Sometimes it’s colored, making it extra visible. Is that a style choice, or are they just being sloppy? Is it okay to show the undershirt if you’re not wearing a tie?
I’d usually say that’s sloppy. I’m not a huge fan of visible undershirts if you’re wearing a nice collared shirt.
Possible exception maybe for guys with out of control, Tom Selleck style chest hair? I guess I’d rather see a triangle of fabric than a huge wiry bush poking out. But usually I’d say go for a V-neck or scoop-neck (sometimes called “A-neck,” though I could never figure out why) undershirt that rests well below the top non-collar button of a dress shirt.
