Better to Show My Undershirt or My Chest Hair?
I have a very hairy chest and like to wear an undershirt with my dress shirts. Is it inappropriate to show the white undershirt when I wear the top buttons open? (I wear crewnecks as v-necks expose the hair) I read that it is not really acceptable.
When it comes to undershirts – no one covers the subject better than Tug over at http://www.undershirtguy.com/
As for my opinion – I would rather see an undershirt than a forest of hair. Have you considered trimming it down a bit?

LikeDislikeYou can also avoid the two options (showing chest hair or showing undershirt) entirely by wearing a necktie, but there are obviously going to be situations where that wouldn’t look right. In those cases I’m with Antonio — if you can’t trim it, I’d rather see undershirt than chest hair. When it pokes out from under a buttoned shirt it’s a little too Tom Selleck.

LikeDislikeI’m a little late responding, but I thought it might be worth mentioning that the trend lately has been to wear your collar buttoned without a tie. This look seems best with sleeves rolled up. Just keep in mind that it is a trend and may soon fade.

LikeDislikeMy best friend (who is also my cousin) dislikes undershirts a great deal—he wore them when he lived with another schoolmate of ours who was extremely stylish, and then he got married. . .
He is extremely hairy, and does trim the very top edge, but to avoid exposure when wearing polo necks, he buttons the top button, as men did with sportcoats and sportshirts in the 90s. . . he tries this look with some dress shirts sans ties as well. . .
His wife does make him wear an undershirt with white or pastel dress shirts; he chooses his dri-fit R—– brand t-shirt—which are loose fitting and not designed for this. . . is there anyway to get this guy updated? At the same time, he is critical of me for wearing open-neck shirts, but if y’all see my other post, I have a classic redhead’s body hair—its all blond and hard to see.
