Tie Color Recommendation for a Groom
My sister is getting married and her future husband refuses to wear a Tux and a bow tie, he wants to wear a black suit, a white shirt and and tie.
What color tie should he wear? I was thinking of suggesting him to wear a black tie. What other options there are for this formal event?
He is white and has blue eyes and dark hair.
Here in Romania we have a triple part wedding: City Hall (in the morning – close family only), Church (in the afternoon – extended family + some friends) and Reception (in the evening – all the guests), should he wear the same color tie for all these tree parts of the wedding?

No set rule. He can wear what he wants — black with a white shirt and black suit is the most simple and formal. Something that complements the bride’s side of the ceremony can also be nice, so a blue tie if she’s holding a blue bouquet, or a tie in the same color family as her bridesmaids’ dresses, or something like that can add some elegant symmetry (just be sure it’s not an exact match in the same fabric — that’s a little cheesy).
Switching ties for the various parts of the day is also fine. Again, if the bride or bridesmaids are switching to multiple outfits, it can give an opportunity to color-coordinate with them. And it’s typical for the groom to take his tie off entirely when the dancing starts — this is the signal for the other men that they can do the say (and it’s usually when the women take off their heels as well).
