Custom-made Clothing for Slim Man

Question from R:

Nobody makes clothes that fit slim fit guys correctly and tailoring is a real hassle because of the time and expense and quality of work done. I wear a 16.5 x 33 shirts. I have a 30-31 inch waist. Most slim shirts are not really slim. Guys don\’t want to spend a lot of time fiddling with clothes but we know they are important in business, etc. We want stuff that fits and makes us look sharp and that\’s it.

Suits for Slim Guy

Hi,

I’m very short and have a slim build. I’m 22, 5’4 and 105 lbs. I recently started eating more and working out more to try and gain weight, I was up to 115 actually when I played highschool sports and worked out a lot more. Anyways, I want to purchase my first suit but given my very slim build, most off the rack look, awkward. I’m not sure if it looks awkward because I’m not used to the way I look in suits or they really do look awkward. But a few that I tried on look wide on me, the length is actually not too bad I feel. Do you think this is a fair assessment or off-the-rack suits on a guy with my build? My question is, should I go with custom made? or are there certain brands that have suits that will look good? My price range is probably $250-$400 or so.

Thanks!

Looking old?

Hi Antonio,

I’m 23 and in graduate school. I’ve never cared too much for how I dressed. Additionally, being 5’5 and 110lb makes a lot of clothing too big for me. Also, I look young for my age. I often get carded twice at some bars and people confuse me for a teenager sometimes. So my question is, how should someone that look very young in the face and in the body adjust his style so that it doesn’t look like the clothing is too “grown up?”, or is it that picking right clothing will naturally make me look older and I shouldn’t worry about looking out of place in “grown up” clothe/accessories? I’m also considering the future where I will most likely to be a professor at a university where I can get away with business casual clothing 95% of the time.

Thanks, cheers!
