Question – Cotton Scarf well knoted with a Linen suit? Can you mix textures like this?
Simple answer is yes. You can mix different fabrics (it would be hard to wear the basic wool suit/cotton shirt business dress combination if you couldn’t!)
Linen and cotton specifically are similar but visibly not the same, which is always bad matching. The way to do it is to select very different colors/patterns — in the example here, you’re in even better shape, since a simple scarf isn’t going to unbalance the whole outfit.
In the summer it’s even reasonably common to wear a linen suit with a cotton shirt. Again, the important thing is just to make sure that the color and the pattern are firmly distinct from one another so it doesn’t look like you were trying for a perfect match and failed.
