What are the benefits of mixes of fabrics such as wool/cashmere, wool/polyester, wool/cotton? Should I stick to pure 100%?

Small amounts of polyester (such as 5%) allow for a higher tensile strength for the fabric, this allows for tighter weaves than could be done otherwise. Small amounts of polyester don’t reduce the quality of the cloth and can in fact make the over all out come slightly better.
Cashmere softens the feel of the cloth and helps to make it feel like a more expensive fabric.
Don’t worry too much about the pure wool thing as there are some very poor 100% wool products out there. It’s not really the primary marker, go more by the drape and the feel of the fabric as long as it’s not too Poly heavy a blend.
I totally Agree… I have some Poly blends that I love, and others that are cheaper construction that I hate.
Construction, and Fit are the keys to looking sharp. I am becoming more biased to 100% wool, and they come in different thicknesses, and weave so a pair of super 100 or super 150 will feel and look different than something heavier.
I also like the cashmere feel as well…
One thing I have noticed is that Women notice when I wear clothing that is better constructed, and better fitted, because they usually tell me… it is kind of my barometer of whether I am doing something right or not.. lol
