How Do I Find a Good Tailor?
I’ve taken a lot of your advice to heart and I really want to get some of my jackets and suits adjusted by a good tailor, someone who’s not just whatever cheap labor Men’s Wearhouse could get or whatever. How do I figure out which tailor in town to go to?

Visit them and ask questions! You don’t have to bring a piece in with you, just have a few questions and hypothetical adjustments in mind. Mention a few jobs you need done (or make up a few if you don’t actually need any yet) and ask if they think they could do it.
You’re not just judging whether they answer “yes,” of course — you also want to pay attention to how you’re received, how good of a communicator the tailor is, whether he/she is interested and asks questions or just says yes to everything, etc.
I often find I have the best luck at small, privately-owned shops that both manufacture bespoke clothing and offer alterations, but those can be hard to find. Of course, if you know any friends who always look sharply-dressed, it’s worth asking them where they get their clothes done…
The one thing I would say not to worry too much about is price comparisons. There’s not usually a huge variation from one tailor to the next — at the most you might be saving $10 or $20 on typical adjustments, and it’s worth that much extra to have the job done well. Be cautious of anyone who’s trying to substantially undercut the competition — there may be a reason they need to.
