Are There Grooming/Hair Style Rules for Formal Wear?
Sometimes, you see men in tuxedos slicking back their hair. Or wearing a style that’s different to their every day wear. Are there extra rules for grooming to go with black/white tie?

Neat and conservative are the only real “rules.” It’s not unusual to see men whip out the Brylcreem (or a similar thick pomade) and going for a heavily-slicked look, but that’s more of a nod toward the classic era of formal dress than a requirement.
I don’t do much more than a side part and a very small amount of grooming cream myself. There’s nothing wrong with the slicked look, but there’s nothing wrong with a more natural-looking style either, so long as it’s neat and recently-trimmed. Too much pomade (especially if you’re not used to using it) can make you look like you’re trying too hard, sometimes.
