I don’t wear my suits on a regular basis, just for important occasions. Do I need to have them dry cleaned and pressed every time? If not, how often should I do it?

Definitely not. You only want to dry clean your suits when they need it — when you’ve spilled something on them (in which case get them to a cleaner ASAP) and when there’s an odor that isn’t airing out.
Most times you wear a suit you should just put it on a good wooden hanger, give it a brushing with a suit brush (you can pick one up at most menswear stores), and hang it in a dark closet with some space on either side of it. As long as it’s not smashed up against other clothes it should air out just fine on its own.
Dry cleaning is hard on the fibers that make up the cloth, so you want to minimize the amount you’re doing it.
