Buy a new Sports Coat.
I am a young man at university with limited funds and I have started looking out for second hand suits, shoes and jackets. I have been able to get a couple of nice second hand woolen suits and some good Allen Edmonds shoes. I have been having more difficulty finding a sports coat. Should I fork out $300-$400 for a new one or should I keep looking for a second hand one?

Burlington Coat Factory or Dillard’s Outlet have awesome deals, $400 sports jackets usually go for about $80. Last season’s? Maybe, but I look at it this way: If I was buying a sports jacket for $400-$600, I would be keeping it for many years anyway. So, a season old is nothing, really. Good luck!!!

LikeDislikeAh, I should have mentioned I live in Australia. I did look at that site but I think it was just listing this seasons clothing and I doubt they ship to the AU. I am thinking of going to Thailand in January so I might get some custom fitted clothes there.

LikeDislikeNow that vadsamoht mentions it, if the place you live in is warm, consider that when you go to Thailand so that you can choose a good material for your sports jackets. Antonio has a video on warm weather clothes, you should check that out. He mentios linen and cotton as Summer materials for sports jackets, I believe.

LikeDislikeThailand is a great idea, I would not only get sports coats, but also a bespoke suit. A dream come true, because here in the US bespoke is kinda pricey. Good luck!

LikeDislikeAs someone who lives is Australia as well, I should note that this type of semi-formal wear is very hard to come across in a retail setting. I have no evidence to back this up, but I think it’s largely due to the warmer weather down here that makes wearing jackets and the like much less practical.
If you do find a good chain in Aus, be sure to post back!

LikeDislikeGood answers guys but I should again point out that I live in the most southerly and coldest part of Australia so sports jackets can be quite appropriate. However most people my age get around in hoodies and $30 slip on shoes.

LikeDislikethemensshop.com.au has some good brand name’s at cheap prices, but I find their casual jacket range needs some work
